Springtime Vineyard Care: Suckering for Quality Grapes

As the weather warms up and we move past bud-break, we witness a rapid acceleration of shoot growth in our vineyard.

One crucial task during this period is suckering, which involves removing poorly located vine shoots at the base of the vines. This process allows healthier shoots higher up on the canopy to fully develop, ensuring they get the nutrients and energy they need.

Suckering plays a vital role in producing top-quality grapes. By thinning the vines, we reduce competition among clusters, leading to a higher concentration of flavors and improved grape quality.
